Lamar Viking Tennis Booster Club

Tennis can be a very frustrating sport. There is no way around the hard work. Embrace it. You have to put in the hours because there is always something you can improve. Roger Federer

Jr. High Tennis

The class will meet at Lamar every other morning (B days on the high school schedule) from 7:30 to 8:45am.

No experience is nessesary, but a completed AISD physical is required, and other release forms from UIL and AISD. Visit the Athletics page from for the athletic release forms, or follow the link below.

The main page of this website contains a link to the actual physical form that must be filled out by a doctor.  Incoming 7th graders will not be able to access the forms in Rank One until Jr. High Registration.

8th graders who had a physical done last year do not need a new one for Fall 2020.  All players without a physical on file must turn in the actual copy.  If you had a new form completed by a doctor in the spring or summer, please turn it in so we can scan it into our system.  The other four forms must be updated this year through Rank One.

Look for more information during registration and at the First Serve Social on 7/23.  There will be a meeting just for jr. high parents after school starts in August.

Uniforms and sweats, and a practice shirt are provided by the district.  Players must  provide their own racquet, appropriate shoes, and water bottle each day.

Parents may either drop off the players at Lamar, or they may ride the high school bus.  At the end of each practice, the bus that takes 8th students enrolled in advanced academic classes back to Nichols or Shack will provide transportation.

Head Coach Courtney Monroe and assistant Sal Ramos give the class multiple coaches each day.  Several Varsity players also assist in the class.

The team will play three dual matches during the fall semester against other AISD schools.  During the Spring semester, players are required to attend several Jr. High Tournaments hosted by local schools and played on Saturdays.
